In 2008, Nektar contributed to James Cameron’s first Avatar film and was later brought back for the recent sequels.

We provided hundreds of days of technical labour shooting in 3D, further establishing our reputation for complex, high-end production support.

In 2010, Park Road Post commissioned a custom video playback system, and Nektar was called in to help bring it to life.

The system recorded 3D and 2D video simultaneously and became the backbone for The Hobbit trilogy.

It was a bold challenge, with the custom 3D camera system being built alongside it.

After months of testing, the system was ready for production, supporting 333+ days of filming on one of New Zealand’s most ambitious shoots.

Since then, Nektar has become a trusted bridge between Portsmouth Rentals and Park Road Post.

We provide high-end video playback systems and DIT services, ensuring seamless workflows from camera through to post.

Our team has worked on a great variety of projects with Weta Digital and Weta Workshop.

From motion capture and motion control to miniatures, natural locations, VFX-heavy shoots, helicopters, drones, Russian arm rigs, and city streets — we’ve done it all.

Today, Nektar’s workflow is central to every production we join.
With trusted processes and relationships, every project runs smoothly, giving our clients confidence at every stage.
